Water Plant Operator, City of Fargo Closing Date: Dec 7, 2018

The City of Fargo is seeking a Water Treatment Plant Operator. A successful candidate will perform a variety of duties involved in the operation and maintenance of the water treatment plant and pumping stations. Essential duties include but are not limited to the following: Control, monitor, identify, and react to process changes and water demand through use of SCADA control system. Operate manual and automated equipment such as pumps and chemical feeders. Collect water samples, conduct water quality analysis, and record data. Perform light mechanical maintenance and cleaning. Physical demands of this position may require occasional heavy work defined as able to exert 100 pounds of force occasionally, and or up to 50 pounds of force frequently. Minimum qualifications should include completion of one-year technical training program in either water or wastewater treatment technology or 2 years of technical employment experience in the water or wastewater treatment field. Candidates who have successfully completed a minimum of (30) thirty semester credits post-secondary university course work in the physical sciences or an engineering discipline may also apply. Must obtain Certification from the ND Department of Health as a Water Treatment Plant Operator within 18 months of hire date. This is a rotating shift-work position. Position requires rotating between day, evening, and night shifts. A valid driver’s license is also required. Starting pay range is $18.75 - $27.02/hour plus benefits depending on current level of Operator Certification, employment history, education, and experience.
