Charlie Vein, President of Advanced Engineering and Environmental Services, Inc. (AE2S), was presented with the George Warren Fuller Award by the American Water Works Association (AWWA). The George Warren Fuller Award is presented annually to selected members for their distinguished service to the water supply field in commemoration of the sound engineering skill, the brilliant diplomatic talent, and the constructive leadership which characterized the life of George Warren Fuller. Mr. Vein is a seasoned volunteer who has contributed significantly, not only to professional associations such as the AWWA, but has also served as a volunteer for many non-profit organizations including the Northland Rescue Mission, University of North Dakota track and field projects, Faith Evangelical Free Church, and the Northland Foundation. He has served in a leadership capacity and/or is a member of the American Public Works Association, American Water Works Association, North Dakota Rural Water Association, North Dakota Water and Pollution Control Conference, North Dakota Water Users, Construction Specification Institute, Minnesota Rural Water Association, National Rural Water Association, and the North Dakota League of Cities. Under Mr. Vein’s leadership, the NDAWWA’s “Water for People” program has created an awareness across the state as well as raised funds to help third world communities in need. The program has included a structured fund raising campaign with multiple initiatives, including golf sponsorships and raffle donations. In recent years, annual contributions reaching over $7,000 have put the North Dakota Section into a higher funding status within the organization. His work with the Water for People program earned him the Kenneth J. Miller Founder’s Award in 2006. |
