The North Dakota Section of the American Water Works Association was formally organized in 1991. Previous to this time we were part of what was called the North Central Section of the American Water Works Association.
The purpose of the North Dakota Section of the American Water Works Association is for scientific and educational purposes.
To further the dissemination of information and the advancement of knowledge in the area of design, construction, operation, and management of utilities rendering water service to the public.
To further study, experimentation and research, and the publication of the results thereof in the area of water distribution, water purification, conservation and development of water
To promote and encourage the protection of public health and improved environment through the construction and efficient operation of water supply facilities.
To promote and encourage, through annual meetings or otherwise, an exchange of information and experience among its membership.
To promote water system operator education and certification programs.
AWWA Mission and Vision
The American Water Works Association is dedicated to the promotion of public health and welfare in the provision of drinking water of unquestionable quality and sufficient quantity. AWWA must be proactive and effective in advancing the technology, science, management, and government policies relative to the stewardship of water.
